Bulletin Board for July 7

After sweeping through the Western New York State playoffs (5-0) for the third year in a row last weekend at Shoshone Park, the Lou Gehrig 12U Iron Horse Red team is headed for the Cal Ripken Babe Ruth Mid-Atlantic Regional starting Thursday in Hockessin, Del.

The LG Red team hit 14 home runs and allowed just one earned run in defeating host North Buffalo (14-0), Casey Stengel (13-0), West Elmira (5-3), Lake View (11-0) and Mathewson-McCarthy (11-1). Josh Quartley pitched a no-hitter over Lake View. Other pitchers were Connor Hoehman, Kyle Finn, and Caleb Hutchins, who was on the mound for the championship victory over Mathewson-McCarthy. Other team members are Johnny Armento, Mitchell Floccare, Jacob Okulewicz, John Krier, Javier Rosa, Matt Borowski, Justin Belote and Jack Balczerzak. John Armento is the coach assisted by Terry Finn and Joe Hoehman.

Lou Gehrig will face Metro New York in its regional opener on Thursday.
