LOCKPORT — South Lockport firefighters battled fire and heavy smoke Sunday morning in an unoccupied home in the Town of Lockport, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 9:48 a.m. coming from the roof of the home at 7141 High Street, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Deputies found the first floor unoccupied, but were unable to access the second floor of the single-family split level home because of the smoke, officials said. Firefighters searched the second floor and found it also unoccupied, officials said.
The fire was extinguished and smoke was cleared from the residence, according to the release. Officials did not provide an estimate of the damage or a cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
