The Western New York Flash and Seattle Reign FC tied 1-1 Friday at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester in the National Women’s Soccer League.
Trailing 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to play, Elizabeth Eddy escaped multiple defenders to find Lynn Williams in the goalie box to tie the game in the 81st minute.
Abby Dahlkemper fouled Seattle’s Jessica Fishlock in the 54th minute, resulting in a penalty shot. Kim Little made the Flash pay for the foul by scoring the lone goal of the game off the penalty.
Seattle goes to 5-2-3 with 18 points and the Flash goes to 4-4-2 with 14 points.
In men’s soccer, FC Buffalo defeated the visiting Erie Commodores FC, 4-2, at Gus Anderson Field at McDowell High School to improve to 4-1-4 with 16 points in the Midwest Division of the National Premier Soccer League.
In a game in which Buffalo and Erie alternated the first four goals of the game, Buffalo took the lead for good courtesy of Andrew Ferguson’s goal in the 84th minute. Brett Larocque secured the win with a goal in the 89th minute.
Brian Knapp gave Buffalo a 2-1 lead in the 39th minute off a cross from Anthony Rozzano, but Erie’s Eric Campbell tied it back at two in the 69th minute.
Fox Slotemaker scored his third goal of the season in the 10th minute off a feed from Ngwese Ebangwese. Kevin Deakin scored Erie’s first goal in the 21st minute.
Erie falls to 3-5-0 with nine points.
