Two linked to Schuele Boys gang take pleas in drug case

Two associates of the Schuele Boys gang accepted plea deals Thursday before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

Benjamin Peoples, 26, of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine, and Shawntorrian Travis, 35, also of Buffalo, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

The case, which is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney George C. Burgasser, involves 21 other Schuele Boys members and associates, seven of whom have been convicted.

The FBI says the gang, which operated in the Schuele Street area of the city, is behind multiple acts of violence and the distribution of marijuana, cocaine and crack cocaine.
