Buffalo Sabres wunderkind Jack Eichel is receiving his tour of Buffalo, and the 18-year-old appears to be enjoying himself. Honestly, it's only a matter of time before he receives a key to the city and a day named in his honor.
One of his stops was at Larkin Square, the home of Food Truck Tuesdays and Live at Larkin, where outdoor activities -- like nano-golf and pickleball -- are abundant. Restraining himself from these snazzy other options, Eichel embraced an old childhood pastime, hula hooping, through the suggestion of music promoter Seamus Gallivan.
Eichel is pretty good! And, as of 1:45 p.m. Thursday, the Vine approaches 85,000 loops. (Side note: There are very few things more awkward than watching someone hula hoop, perhaps other than trying to hula hoop yourself.)
Update: According to Roswell Park's Periscope account, Jack Eichel is now visiting pediatric patients, as of 2 p.m. Thursday.
Yesterday, Eichel stopped by Chefs Restaurant, pulled on a traditional bib and snapped a few photos. He's probably due for a visit to Anchor Bar, of course, before riding the Maid of the Mist and exploring Niagara Falls.
