OLCOTT – For the second consecutive Wednesday, the Niagara County Health Department announced the closing of Krull Park Beach on Lake Ontario because of elevated levels of e. coli bacteria.
Ronald Gwozdek, principal public health engineer, said the test results from a Tuesday water sample came in early Wednesday afternoon.
“All this rain isn’t helping,” Gwozdek said. “Rain results in runoff from everything.”
The earliest the beach could be reopened is Thursday afternoon, after results of a test on a water sample taken Wednesday are received, Gwozdek said. Last week, the beach was closed from Wednesday to Friday because of e. coli.
