Buffalo Bandits forward Shane Smith was named one of three finalists for the Pinty’s Wingman of the Year Award presented to the top playmaker in the National Lacrosse League.
Smith, 23, finished third in the league in assists (68) and fourth in points (107). He had at least one assist and three points in all 18 games, and 14 games with five of more points.
Other finalists are Calgary’s Shawn Evans and Toronto’s Josh Sanderson.
Evans shared the league lead in assists with 83 and set the single-season scoring record with 130 points.
Sanderson matched Evans’ 83 assists and placed sixth in scoring with 102 points. The winner will be announced Sept. 29 at the NLL season awards show.
