There's an unsolved mystery in the archives of The Buffalo News: What happened to the microfilmed editions for the month of July in 1915?
They're missing from The News' archives and from the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library's. We've checked with the Library of Congress, which also does not have the month.
A note on the last reel from June 1915 instructs the scanners to splice the last weeks of June onto the first weeks of July, but they're instead spliced onto the first weeks of August. We have no record indicating that publication halted during that month, but we also have explanation for what happened.
As a result, we don't have front pages to share with you this month. Those posts will continue Aug. 1, which we do have.
