Owners of The Red Mill Inn in Clarence have closed the 55-year-old restaurant and are selling the property.
Dan and Shellie Hanley announced the news Tuesday night on the restaurant’s Facebook page, in a heartfelt goodbye to generations of customers. “Many, many wonderful people have walked through our doors,” it said. “For Shellie and I, it's a bitter sweet day.”
The restaurant, at 8326 Main St., served its last meals Sunday night.
The couple bought the restaurant in 1989 from its founders, the Lenz family, when their son was an infant. Their children are grown and gone now, and they believe “God’s plan for us lies elsewhere,” they said, thanking their customers.
