LOCKPORT – The Niagara History Center has rescheduled its first Cemetery Tales Tour of the summer, which was rained out this past weekend, for 1 p.m. July 12 in Glenwood Cemetery, 325 Glenwood Ave. The tour group will meet at the mausoleum parking lot; tickets are $10 each.
The Step Back in Time Players will portray well-known Lockport residents now permanently residing in Glenwood, although the lineup of characters has been altered from the show that was to have occurred this past Sunday.
Geoffrey Koplas will portray William Rand Kenan, the businessman whose estate became the Kenan Center. Clint Starke will play entrepreneur Wallace Keep, whose home became Lockport’s Presbyterian Home.
Barb Hemphill is to portray community activist Arabella Peterson and tell of starting Niagara County’s first SPCA and its first Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Mary Walbridge Hunt, the wife of Gov. Washington Hunt, is to be played by Kathy Heinemann.
A similar tour with the re-enactors portraying different characters is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 2 at Cold Springs Cemetery, 4849 Cold Springs Road, also costing $10 per person. Reservations for both tours are required by calling the History Center at 434-7433.
