Lockport burglar pleads guilty, enters diversion program

LOCKPORT – Benjamin N. Carter pleaded guilty Tuesday in State Supreme Court to a Feb. 17 Lockport burglary, and was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment by Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.

Carter, 26, of Lewis Street, Lockport, admitted to third-degree burglary for a break-in at a residence on Washburn Street. If he succeeds in drug treatment, his felony will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a nonjail sentence. If he fails, he faces up to seven years in prison.
