NEUHAUS, Walter R.

NEUHAUS - Walter R. Age 98, of the City of Tonawanda, June 28, 2015, husband of 31 years of Dorothy A. (nee Strasburg) Neuhaus and Doris (nee Gordon) Neuhaus, who died in 1979; father of Sandra (Robert) Schnell, Dr. Walter (Mary) Neuhaus and Richard (Lisa) Neuhaus; stepfather of Dawn (Robert) Hummel, Robin (Brian) Zaczek and Carol (Michael) Minnolera; also survived by 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother of the late Richard Neuhaus. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 6-9 PM at JOHN O. ROTH FUNERAL HOME INC., 25 William St., (between Morgan and Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A private burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday (July 2) at 7 PM in Grove Street Christian Church, 85 Grove St. in Tonawanda. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to Grove Street Christian Church or the DeGraff Skilled Nursing Facility in North Tonawanda. Walter was a 1935 graduate of Tonawanda High School and a 1941 graduate of the University of Buffalo. He had a 40-year career in Analytical Chemistry and worked on the Manhattan Project during World War II. He was a member and past commodore of the Anerald Boat Club and Wilson Yacht Club and was a 67-year member of Grove Street Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was an avid sailor for 75 years and was an award-winning model train builder and also loved gardening and traveling. Walter also bowled twice weekly until age 95.
