Children can do more than just get wet Monday at the splash pad at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, which is kicking off its summer season.
Splish Splash Summer Bash, which runs from 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., includes zones for picnicking and face painting, as well as family activities, water sports and healthy snacks. The first 200 children will receive free bicycle helmets from the Police Athletic League.
The celebration is presented by BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, the City of Buffalo and Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
Summer hours at the splash pad, at the Humboldt Basin near the Buffalo Museum of Science, are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, through Labor Day. Young children must be accompanied by an adult, and no bare feet are allowed.
