With a 4.0 grade point average in sports management, sophomore defenseman Kevin Patterson was one of eight players to receive Atlantic Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year honors.
“Kevin has done a tremendous job for our program on the ice and more importantly in the classroom,” head coach Dave Burkholder said. “He is involved with student government and leads us in community service projects. For those and many more reasons are why he will be one of our captains for the upcoming season.”
This is the first mention of captains for Niagara next year. The other captains have not been announced.
Peterson is joined by 13 other Purple Eagles to earn academic honors -- Tyler Akeson, Robert Angiolella, Matthieu Chartrain, Michael Conderman, Adrian Ignagni, Isaac Kohls, Daniel Kolenda, Chris Lochner, Phillip Nasca, Chris Paulin, Stephen Pietrobon, Derian Plouffe, Larry Smith and Hugo Turcotte.
