The Canadian Motor Speedway, a racetrack planned for Fort Erie, Ont., has signed an agreement with the Automotive Centre of Excellence that will see each party have access to the other’s facilities for automotive testing.
The automotive center is owned by the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and based in Oshawa, Ont. It will offer the Canadian Motor Speedway access to its wind tunnel to test race cars in a variety of simulated environments, climates and conditions. As vehicles go through development, the Canadian Motor Speedway will allow access to its track for outdoor testing, under natural conditions.
Erik Tomas, a Canadian Motor Speedway spokesman, said plans call for completing the track complex in the third quarter of 2017, but issues involving off-site infrastructure still need to be resolved.
