New interim superintendent to start at Silver Creek schools Wednesday

SILVER CREEK – A new interim superintendent will lead Silver Creek Central School starting Wednesday.

Delia Bonenberger of Springville was named to replace Daniel Ljiljanich who resigned to take a position as superintendent of Niagara Wheatfield School District.

Bonenberger was introduced to school board members on Wednesday at the regular meeting of the board of education. Members of the board voted to appoint Dr. David O’Rourke, superintendent of Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES to conduct a search for a new superintendent for the district. The interim contract is scheduled to expire on Jan. 31.

In other news, school board members recognized Irene Blakely for her service as a member. She declined to run for re-election in May and will be replaced by Gerry Cross.

The following elementary students were recognized for their outstanding citizenship: Shylor Maybee, Kimberly Bauer, Aaliyah Rancano, Anthony Richmond, Rory Bordenkircher, Tanner Templin, Portia Snyder, Jonathan Castle, Briana Spinuzza, Nora Pantano. Julie Decker, Zachary Kiley, Brayson Parsell, Brenna Newton, Grace Mullen, Dylan Miller, Arianna Bass, George Vento, and Joshua Dietzen.

The board members also honored high school student Jessica Daniels for being the winner of the NYS Arts in Education Network LOGO Contest Award.

An organizational meeting of the board was set for 7 p.m. July 8.
