MAGHRAN, Norma A.

MAGHRAN - Norma A. Passed away peacefully on December 5, 2014 in Naples, FL, with her husband of 62 years and family at her side. Born in Buffalo, NY on November 24, 1931, the only child of Norman and Hazel Elsaesser, she graduated from Kensington High School and the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing and worked many years as a Registered Nurse, being particularly dedicated to helping the handicapped. The mother of 11 children, the family resided in Buffalo, with a summer home at Crescent Beach, Ontario. Upon retirement in 1998, she and her husband enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Naples. As a most loving and devoted wife and mother, her family and home were her prime interests and joy with no effort or sacrifice too great on their behalf. Mild and unpretentious in manner and a helpful friend to all who knew her, she pursued many interests, including classical music, medical advances, family health, reading and travel and was active in golf, bicycling, nature walks, numerous do-it-yourself home projects and family gatherings. Despite physical handicaps in later years, she continued her daily outdoor activities in all types of weather, inspiring many friends and strangers to become more active. Norma was preceded in death by three daughters: Katherine, Kathleen and Karen Jacobi. In addition to her husband Irving, she is survived by two daughters Elizabeth and Susan (Marco) Guerrero and six sons: Michael (Ann), Mark (Cathy), David (Heidi), Brian (Ann), Daniel (Ginger), Gregory and 25 grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will celebrate Norma's life on Thursday, July 2 at 11 AM at St. Mark's Church, 401 Woodward Ave., Buffalo.
