Dennis Hogan successfully retained his WBA-NABA United States Super Welterweight title Friday by earning a decision over Rochester’ Kenny Abril during the main event of the nationally televised Sully Huff Invitational boxing card at Seneca Niagara Events Center in Niagara Falls.
Hogan won via scores of 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94.
Jarrell Miller scored a first-round TKO over Buffalo heavyweight Excell Holmes. Holmes was bleeding from the nose and wobbly when the fight was stopped at 2:44.
Hoshuan Sambolin of Rochester won his pro debut, earning a unanimous decision over Anthony Dave of Canton, Ohio, in a four-round super featherweight bout. Joe Greeen won his super middleweight fight via third-round TKO over Guy Packer. Middleweight Bakhtiyer Eubov won via second-round TKO. Tony Luis scored a unanimous decision over Edward Valdez.
The planned professional debut of Buffalo’s Daniel DeJesus was postponed.
