June 26, 1960: Owner of the hockey Bisons is fed up with getting Chicago's NHL washouts

Ruby Pastor, Buffalo’s Pepsi-Cola bottler and hockey team owner, tells The News’ Charley Young that he’s tired of worn-out NHL veterans who couldn’t make the Blackhawks — so Chicago sent them here.

Fifty-five years ago this week, Pastor was making it clear he wanted young, exciting, up-and-coming players for his Buffalo Hockey Club — which later won two more American League Championship Calder Cups before folding in 1970 to make way for the Sabres.
