We’re about to get a lot of rain.
Between 2 and 3 inches of rain is forecast for the Buffalo Niagara region this weekend, according to meteorologist Bob Hamilton of the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
“Most of it Saturday afternoon and the first half of Saturday night,” he noted.
A flood watch takes effect at 5 a.m. Saturday and runs through 2 p.m. Sunday.
While rainfall projections have increased since earlier forecasts, anticipated temperatures have not. High temperatures will be in the 60s this weekend.
The greatest risk is for small creeks rising out of their banks, according to the watch. Flooding is expected on low-lying agricultural areas, as well as urban and poor drainage areas.
