Buffalo man gets two years for setting warehouse fire

The last of two defendants in a 15-year old fire investigation is going to federal prison for two years.

John A. Walsh of Buffalo was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for his role in an October 2000 fire at a warehouse at 1685 South Park Ave.

Prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel, Walsh admitted setting the fire to conceal a burglary of several ice cream trucks stored inside the warehouse.

The other defendant, Jeffrey Wainwright, also pleaded guilty to his role in the crime.
