The death of a five-month old boy on Tuesday is believed to have been accidental, according the Niagara Falls Police Department.
The boy was found unresponsive in a home on 24th Street at 11 a.m. Tuesday. An ambulance rushed him to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy performed by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday found no signs of trauma, said Capt. Michael Trane, chief of detectives.
“At this time it appears the death was accidental or a result of sudden infant death syndrome,” Trane said in a statement.
He said they are still awaiting toxicology results.
