Niagara Falls police investigate death of 5-month-old boy

NIAGARA FALLS – A 5-month-old boy died Tuesday at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after he was discovered not breathing in a 24th Street home, police said.

Niagara Falls police and firefighters responded to the home just before 11 a.m., Capt. Michael Trane said. The boy was rushed by Rural/Metro Medical Services to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, Trane said.

The death is under investigation and the cause is unknown, police said. An autopsy will be performed Wednesday by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office.
