Where we live: Lancaster

Lancaster

Town officials got a little earful last week about traffic.

Resident Mike Kalinka of Village View complained of speeding and traffic concerns in his neighborhood, where many younger children live.

“I think if you guys sit on my front porch and watch traffic, you’d be pretty worried for your kids,” Kalinka told the Town Board.

Kalinka also complained about the fire alarm sounds coming from the Twin District Fire Hall. “It sounds like we’re in an air-raid situation,” he said.

Increasing traffic congestion in the hamlet of Bowmansville also was raised.

Republican Town Board candidate Joe Brainard expressed concern with that area, ocnsidering more than 320 homes are being built in that vicinity. “You cannot make a left on Genesee anymore to go west,” he told the board. “Bowmansville needs some help.”

This week:

• The School Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday in the High School auditorium, 1 Forton Drive. Depczynski are sworn in for a three-year term.

• The Village Board meets in a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Municipal Building, 5423 Broadway.
