Armed attack on neighbor leads to arrest

A Woodlawn Avenue man is accused of breaking into the home of a neighbor and attacking her while carrying a handgun in his waistband, Buffalo police said.

The 29-year-old victim told police that Erique Giles, 26, who lives a few doors away, broke down the upper door of her home, entered and punched her in the chest around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. She said he also scratched her arms during the struggle, during which he had a black handgun in his waistband.

Police found Giles almost an hour later at another address on Woodlawn and charged him with first-degree burglary, a felony.
