Another day, another dramatic three-set win for Winston Lin. The former standout at Williamsville East defeated Nathan Pasha, 7-6 (0), 3-6, 6-4, in the quarterfinals of the Sargent & Collins, LLP USTA Pro Circuit Men’s $10,000 Futures Tournament at Miller Tennis Center.
Lin, playing at his home club where he trained since age 7, earned his first pro semifinal appearance. He finished his senior season at Columbia before turning pro. Pasha just finished his collegiate career at Georgia and the pair split their two meetings during the NCAA season.
Lin will face eight-seeded Maximiliano Estevez of Argentina in the second semifinal matchup Saturday. The first semi of the day, scheduled for noon, will feature Kaichi Uchida of Japan and Hans Hach of Mexico.
