A Hamburg man was charged with menacing a police officer early Saturday morning after he ran from police down Elmwood Avenue, removed some clothes and then charged at the officer with a weapon.
Adam M. Bova, 27, of Southwestern Boulevard, was walking southbound on Elmwood near Nottingham Terrace at about 4:15 a.m., according to a police report.
Bova was seen knocking down construction cones into the roadway and swearing. When an officer approached, Bova ran. The officer caught up to Bova near Elmwood and Nottingham, where Bova began to disrobe, the report said.
Bova then put his clothes back on, raised what was described in the report as a wooden club and shouted obscenities as he approached the officer. After resisting being handcuffed, according to the report, Bova was arrested and slammed his own head numerous times into the police cruiser window.
He was charged with menacing a police officer, a class D felony, as well as resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
