Margaret M. Dossett, former co-owner of a meat market and a water colorist, died Wednesday at her home in Williamsville. She was 88.
Formerly Margaret Douris, she was born in Buffalo and was a graduate of both the former Fosdick Masten High School and Villa Maria College, where she earned a degree in accounting.
From 1965 to 1996, she co-owned Dossett’s Meat Market in Cheektowaga and was the owner of Marge’s Bridal House in Williamsville from 1975 to 1996. At the age of 60, she became a water colorist, and shortly before her death, she became a water color art teacher.
Mrs. Dossett was a member of a women’s softball team, Women Against Nuclear Disaster and QUOTA of Cheektowaga. She also filmed and produced a public television show for professional women at Jones Cable, served on the board at Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, volunteered at both Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen and Good Neighbor’s Health Center, and she was a member of the Niagara Art Guild.
Her husband of 62 years, the late Richard G., died in 2011.
She is survived by four daughters, Dawn Johnson, Diane Marchese, Gloria Costrino and Donna Zangaral; three sons, David, Thomas and Kevin; a sister, Eleanor Cox; and 27 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 Saturday in Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church, 8445 Greiner Road, Clarence.
