State Troopers in Alden get new home thanks to school district chief

New York State Troopers assigned to the Alden area have moved in this week to a larger and more comfortable station, thanks to efforts by Adam Stoltman, superintendent of the Alden Central School District.

Now they are headquartered in a renovated 1700 square foot former Cape Cod residence in front of the Alden Primary School at 11187 Broadway near Townline Road. The building, proposed by Stoltman some time ago for state police use, was recently renovated and modified by Alden School District staffers.

Captain Steven Graap State Police zone commander for the Alden district, said the new facility “is an ideal location as it increases state police visibility” and provides greater access for the public. Previously the Alden trooper detachment operated in a smaller office at the Town of Alden Highway building on Main Street.

Stoltman said he and other school district officials are grateful a State Police presence will be near “the campus that houses our youngest learners.”
