LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man who was charged with robbing and assaulting another man on his street was placed on five years’ probation Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon.
Brandon L. Swafford, 29, of 20th Street, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted third-degree robbery.
According to a presentencing report Sheldon read aloud during a June 3 court appearance, the victim entered a house on 20th Street to buy marijuana, but three men took him onto the back porch and assaulted him. He said one man pulled a gun, which he tried to wrestle away from the gunman until another man struck him in the head with a beer bottle and stabbed him. The report said the gun was thrown to Swafford, who allegedly pointed it at the victim. Swafford denied that claim to investigators but pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and agreed to pay the victim $500 in restitution.
