Bacchus releases summer film lineup

If you start to sweat uncomfortably when thinking about conversation during a fancy dinner, here's an alternative in downtown Buffalo.

Bacchus' 2015 Summer Film Series will provide plenty of welcome distractions or conversation starters, as you can mimic "blue steel," chuckle at Farva's antics or hang out with guys named Iceman, Maverick and Goose.

Reservations at the restaurant, stationed at 56 W. Chippewa St., are required to see the movies (see Bacchus' Open Table page), shown weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays on Bacchus' back patio (a natural place to watch a movie, Christopher Schobert noted last year).

Films begin at dusk, which is typically around 9 p.m. for the beginning of the series, and slightly earlier as the days get shorter.

Already two shows deep into the season, here's the rest of the lineup:

June 17: "Moneyball"
June 18: "Silver Linings Playbook"

June 24: "The Big Lebowski"
June 25: "The Notebook"

The series redefines the phrase "dinner and a movie," or at least makes it more convenient and saves gas money.
