Man caught after he attempts to hide goods before he walks out of store

NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man was stopped and charged after he attempted to leave a Niagara Falls Home Depot with a saw he had reportedly hidden in a cabinet he purchased on Monday morning.

Anthony A. Rodgers, 35, of 69th Street was charged with petit larceny at 9:45 a.m. Monday at a Home Depot store on Builder’s Way.

Store security told police that Rodgers opened a rigid reciprocating saw valued at $99 and put the saw into a cabinet he had in his cart. Rodgers paid for the cabinet, but made no attempt to pay for the saw before leaving the store.

He was stopped and issued an appearance ticket for Niagara Falls City Court.
