Woman invites online friend over, is larceny victim

A woman who lives in the Mariner Towers Apartments told Central District police Sunday morning that she invited a man to her apartment after chatting with him on the Internet for two months, and he allegedly made off with $1,210 worth of property while she was sleeping.

The 26-year-old woman said the man, whom she knew only as “Primo,” stole $200 in cash, a $300 smartphone, $320 worth of jewelry, a laptop computer and a box of Victoria’s Secret perfume.

The victim said she had been in communication with the man for two months on a website called Badoo. Police reported that a surveillance video camera in the hallway outside the apartment may have photographed the suspect as he was leaving.
