J.P. Fitzgerald's celebrates 25 years in Hamburg

J.P. Fitzgerald’s, the Hamburg restaurant styled after an Irish pub, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a slate of events that start June 19.

A ceremony involving a time capsule, speeches, and dignitaries including the deputy general consul of Ireland begins at 9:45 a.m. That evening, the party will include live music and a drawing to win a trip to Ireland.

The restaurant, at 4236 Clark St., Hamburg, has been expanded several times, and named a Top Small Workplace in WNY by the Buffalo News.

Owner Bob Brunner will be honored as Irish-American of the Year at the Buffalo Bisons game on June 23, Irish Festival Night. In 25 years, his restaurant has grown from 26 to 95 employees, he said in a statement. “It’s pretty amazing when I step back and look at the expanded building and the successful business and realize how far J.P.’s has come,” he said.
