A 23-year-old woman has been arrested on assault and other charges, accused of striking her 4-year-old son with a belt on his arms and thigh over the weekend, Ferry-Fillmore District police reported.
Police charged Danielle Heredia with second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and other charges following the incident late Sunday morning on Wood Avenue, in the city’s Bailey-Walden area.
Heredia and a woman in her 50s were involved in an argument after the defendant’s son apparently damaged the other woman’s television set, according to the police report. Officers responding to a report of a domestic dispute say the little boy suffered redness and swelling on both arms and his upper left thigh in the attack.
Police also accused Heredia of threatening to kill the other woman, kicking and punching seats and windows in the back of a police car and managing to get her handcuffs off, according to the police report.
