Armed women rob teen girls of sneakers, cellphones

Two robberies in Buffalo Saturday were committed by women armed with handguns, and in both cases they stole the victims’ cellphones and sneakers. Police reported one arrest in connection with the cases.

Ferry-Fillmore District police said two teenage girls were accosted at Dodge Street and Masten Avenue about 1:15 p.m. by two women, one of them displaying a black handgun. Both girls had to surrender their sneakers, priced at $120 to $130 per pair, and one also lost a $600 smartphone. The victims said the robbers ran through some backyards and were picked up by two men driving a cream-colored four-door sedan.

At 11 p.m. Saturday, Northeast Police stopped a white 2010 Dodge Charger and arrested Ian R. Gore, 26, of Longview Avenue. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property taken in the incident at Dodge and Masten. The probe is continuing.

Saturday evening at Sycamore and Howlett streets, Ferry-Fillmore police were told by two other teenage girls that they also were confronted by two females, one with a handgun, who stole a $200 pair of sneakers, two cellphones worth a total of $250 and a $200 purse. The robbers ran east on Sycamore Street.
