YOUNGSTOWN – The Niagara County Health Department and Office for the Aging are offering a free diabetes self-management workshop, starting June 23 in First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St.
The six-week course will run on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and it’s designed for anyone who has been diagnosed with diabetes.
The Health Department said the program has demonstrated health benefits for people with diabetes, and complements a patient’s existing health care. The workshop is designed to help participants enhance their decision-making and coping skills to maintain active and fulfilling lifestyles while improving food choices and controlling their weight.
Individuals with diabetes, or their caregivers, may register by calling the Office for the Aging at 438-3030, or the Health Department’s Nursing Division at 278-1900.
The county continues to seek organizations interested in hosting diabetes or chronic disease self-management workshops. Those interested should call 278-1900.
