Report of explosion at Niagara Falls bank turns out to be can of air

NIAGARA FALLS – Emergency crews rushed to the Key Bank, 8301 Niagara Falls Blvd., just after noon Friday after employees there reported hearing an explosion in a northwest corner office.

Police and fire crews arriving at the scene around 12:10 p.m. found that some ceiling tiles had been blown upward inside the office, and a tile liner had been dented. After finding the bottom of an aerosol can in the area, they speculated that a can of “keyboard cleaner” had exploded, causing the damage. The actual body of the can was believed to have become lodged inside the ceiling of the office.

No injuries were reported and no damage estimate was available.
