A 25-year-old Buffalo man is charged with repeatedly threatening a Channel 4 reporter through voice mail, text, Facebook and Twitter messages over a period of two months, according to city police.
Police say Jamyron Turner, of Glenwood Avenue, alarmed and annoyed the reporter by sending her a number of harassing messages between April 7 and June 12. The News is not naming the reporter.
Turner showed up Friday at the WIVB station at 2077 Elmwood Ave., where he had been told he wasn’t allowed, and he was arrested a short time later at a nearby shopping plaza.
He is charged with stalking, trespass and aggravated harassment. Turner has a previous conviction for third-degree stalking, according to Buffalo police, though further details weren’t available Saturday.
“While I can’t comment specifically about the ongoing investigation, our employees’ safety is a top priority,” Scott Levy, WIVB’s news director, said in an email. ”We are very thankful to the Buffalo Police Department who responded urgently on Friday.”
