Canisius High School sent three teams to rowing’s Youth National Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton, Fla., for the weekend. Two boats took part in heats on Friday, while the third had to wait an extra day to compete because of bad weather.
Early Friday, the Men’s Youth 2 finished fifth in its heat, falling to Indianapolis RC. Then in the Men’s Youth 4+, the Crusaders were third. Since the top two boats in each heat advanced to the semifinal, Canisius will compete in consolation races in those two classes.
The Men’s Lightweight Youth 8+ was rescheduled to begin on Saturday morning. The competition, presented by USRowing, runs through Sunday.
