For Buffalonians excited about Odd Future (Wolf Gang Kill Them All) founder Tyler, the Creator’s new track, “Buffalo,” bad news: the song has absolutely nothing to do with New York’s second-largest city.
But what the Bunny Sigler-sampling cut does do is preview what local audiences are in for when the rapper and producer rolls his verbose act into Town Ballroom (681 Main St.) on Sunday with fellow Odd Future mate Taco Bennett.
With the skate-rap trifecta of “Goblin,” “Wolf” and this year’s “Cherry Bomb,” the casually profane Los Angeles MC has drawn comparisons to Wu Tang Clan architect RZA. This may simply be a convenient comparison with his role as leader of an oversized hip-hop collective; or it may be substantiated with his catalog’s spitfire lyrical onslaught, overstuffed with references to Mountain Dew, Rosa Parks and killing people with Popsicles – but no Buffalo-centric references to the K-Gun.
This is an all-ages show, but minors under 16 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Doors open at 7 p.m.; tickets are $30 (box office, ticketfly.com).
