Members of the Clean Air Coalition will canvass Buffalo’s West Side and Town of Tonawanda on Saturday to encourage residents to register to vote.
“When our communities don’t vote, elected officials listen to polluters, not the people,” Erin Heaney, the coalition’s executive director, said in a news release. “We need communities that are actively engaged in decision-making. There’s no way to have healthy people and a healthy planet without a healthy democracy.”
Coalition members will meet at 311 Ontario Street at 1 p.m. for a brief training and then head out to canvass, according to the release.
The Clean Air Coalition is a membership-based organization that operates throughout Western New York.
