Lockport motorcyclist injured as he escorts Vietnam Memorial Wall

A Lockport man who was part of about 600 motorcycles escorting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall from Amherst to Niagara County was injured at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday when his bike went down in the 3800 block of Millersport Highway in Amherst.

Glenn R. Lawrence, 57, made a hard brake to avoid a cyclist as they were traveling on Millersport just north of North French Road.

Lawrence was thrown from his motorcycle and other bikers in the escort came to his aid and directed traffic around him. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center with complaints of neck and rib pain, according a report from Capt. Patrick McKenna of the Amherst Police Department.
