The driver and passenger of an automobile that spun out of control on wet pavement on the Youngmann Expressway and collided with a truck near Niagara Falls Boulevard early Tuesday afternoon were both hospitalized and ticketed by Amherst police.
Lynnsey Speer, 20, the driver of the car, was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for treatment of back pains and her father, Stephen Speer, 40, was taken to the same hospital for facial, elbow and knee injuries.
The daughter was ticketed for unsafe speed and her father, who was partially ejected into the windshield of the car, was ticketed for not using a seat belt, according to Capt. Patrick McKenna of the Amherst Police Accident Investigation Unit.
The truck driver, Joseph Hendry, 58, of Akron, was not injured in the crash that occurred about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. McKenna said. The eastbound ramp of the Youngmann was closed until 2:40 p.m. as the two vehicles were cleared from the roadway.
