Town of Tonawanda man gets nine months in stolen checks case

A Town of Tonawanda man who pleaded guilty in a stolen check case has been sentenced to nine months in jail, Cheektowaga police reported Monday.

Joshua Malone, 25, of Green Acres Road, pleaded guilty to petit larceny last Friday before Town Justice Paul Piotrowski. Police said Malone had deposited several stolen checks, belonging to his employer, into his bank account after changing the amounts written on them.

Malone originally was charged with grand larceny, petit larceny, attempted petit larceny and three counts of criminal possession of stolen property.
