RUN IN ANOTHER’S SHOES – To raise money for and awareness about cerebral palsy, walk or run at 11 a.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Beach Grove in Hamburg. The event – with a barbecue, a bounce house, face painting and a silent auction – will include 3K and 5K routes and a one-mile course accessible to wheelchairs. Registration starts at 9 a.m. for this unique race that encourages participants to wear ankle weights to simulate what it’s like to live with CP. Money raised will go to the Make Lemon Aide Foundation for Cerebral Palsy founded by Lauren Walier, daughter of Hamburg-natives Peter and Sherry Walier. Write info@MakeLemonAide.org.

RAPELLING FOR KIDS – Go for the thrill of rapelling from a building and raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the rapelling organization Over the Edge will help the adventurous have the once-in-a-lifetime experience of descending from the top of the Larkin Center of Commerce Building at 701 Seneca St. About 90 people will go 110 feet with climbing gear. REINSTEIN WOODS BARBECUE – Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve is hosting its first “Buffalo’s Backyard Wilderness BBQ” on Saturday to raise money for environmental education programs. The event, to be held from 4 to 7 p.m., will feature a chicken barbecue dinner by Krolick’s and desserts including the “Reinstein Float,” made with maple walnut ice cream and birch beer. There also will be live music, a basket auction and guided nature walks.

Admission is $25 for adults, $10 for children age 10 and younger, and free for children age 2 and younger. Advance tickets are available at Reinstein Woods Environmental Education Center, 93 Honorine Drive, or by calling 683-5959.
