Man stopped in store with hypodermic needles and narcotics

NIAGARA FALLS – Hypodermic needles sticking out of a customer’s sweatshirt at a Niagara Falls Boulevard store prompted a phone call to the police Sunday afternoon.

William Gondek, 24, of Woodside Place, was stopped by police at 4 p.m. Sunday in a Sally Beauty Supply store.

Officers had to hold Gondek’s arm to keep him from jumping away and also to avoid contact with the needles which were protruding from his hoody pocket, police said.

In addition to the hypodermic needles, Gondek was also found to be carrying a baggy with narcotic pills, including Xanax and Suboxone and also a Suboxone strip. Store staff said he had put three facial concealers into the front of his jeans, but then went around a corner and put them back.

He was charged with petit larceny, criminal possession of hypodermic needles, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and prescription medicine outside its container.
