Karen Ann Parucki, formerly of Cheektowaga, an executive in the food industry, died unexpectedly May 28 at her home in Snellville, Ga. She was 61.
Born in Buffalo, she graduated from Villa Maria High School and Rosary Hill College. After college, she worked for FMC Corporation, later Rich Products, and then Henry & Henry as a research and development manager.
After leaving Henry & Henry in 1992, she moved to Bridgeport, N.J., to become plant manager for the Bakery and Food Service Division of Pillsbury Foods, overseeing a manufacturing operation with over $46 million in sales.
During her career, she worked in senior management positions for Heinz and General Mills in Boston, Mass., before moving to Georgia to become plant manager for H.C. Brill, a bakery products company.
From 2005 until 2015, she worked for CSM Bakery Supplies in Georgia in various director-level positions. At the time of her death, she was the director of quality assurance for Hartybake Corp.
Earlier this year, she was honored as a VIP member of the National Association of Professional Women for her contributions to female professionals.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and cooking, as well as gardening at her home in Georgia and her summer home in Angola.
She is survived by a sister, Susan Szrama.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Monday in Queen of Martyrs Parish, Cheektowaga.
