Chelsea Dantonio

School: Lancaster

Year: Senior

Twitter: @xxchelseaa813

#PrepTalkResume: Became a five-time Section VI champion this spring to earn her second straight Prep Talk Player of the Year award.

Statistics 101: Dantonio never had a sectional title win as close as this year's, as she came from four strokes down after nine holes, then made a putt on the third playoff hole to beat Southwestern junior Marissa DelMonaco after both players shot a 2-over-par 74 at Gowanda Country Club. Dantonio was last year's winner of the Buffalo District Golf Association Open Women's Championship while she was the runner-up at the New York State Junior Girls Championship and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament.

Favorite moment in H.S. competition: "Winning sectionals five out of six years and the team bonding days we had for high school golf."

Favorite teammate: Nicole Filipski (2014 Lancaster graduate).

Toughest opponent (team): Clarence.

Toughest opponent (individual): Sarah Singleton (Depew).

Role model: "Both of my parents."

Pro/college athlete I look up to: Rory McIlroy

I wouldn't be Prep Talk Player of the Year without ... "my family, coaches Allen and Cindy Miller, high school coach Pat Smith, and friends who supported and helped me get where I am today."

When I'm not playing or practicing my sport, I'm ... "hanging with my friends or shopping."

What's ahead: Dantonio will golf at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C., after verbally committing to the Division I women's golf program during the spring of her junior year. But first, there is the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships on Saturday and Sunday at SUNY Delhi.
