Fire collapses roof of Snyder home

Damage was estimated at $280,000 in a blaze reported early Sunday morning at 400 Park Club Lane in Snyder.

According to Amherst Fire Control, the homeowner called at 4 a.m. to report the rear of the house was on fire. When the Snyder Fire Department arrived at the scene, the fire had spread up the rear of the home into the attic and the roof had partially collapsed. No injuries were reported.

While the cause is still under investigation, the origin of the fire was traced to the area of a propane grill on a wooden deck at the rear of the home.

Damage was estimated at $180,000 to the structure and $100,000 to the contents of the home.

Snyder firefighters were assisted by the Eggertsville Hose Company.
